Hanging tough
For the past 3 years, I have prayed about and chosen a bible verse to help me to focus myself for the year. Those verses have encouraged me, comforted me and challenged me. This year, I have felt God calling me to this particular verse. It is one I memorized a few years ago and have always appreciated but I just feel strongly that this is the verse God is giving me to focus on this year.
Hebrews 12: 1-3 Therefore since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith who for the joy set before Him, endured the cross, scorning its shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
Last year was a very good year but none the less a difficult one; uncertainty in the economy, worries over our children, our business and the usual battle I fight with myself and my old patterns of thinking. I can already see the potential of this new verse to help me to fight the exhaustion I've been feeling and continue to press on in becoming the child of God I am intended to be.
